Macedon Ranges Macedon Ranges

At the southern end of the Great Dividing Range lie the cool-cold climate wines of the Macedon Ranges.

The region lends itself to producing excellent Sparkling wine and with that comes, elegant Chardonnay and Pinot.

Though generally associated to the warmer climates, Shiraz with peppery notes can be compared to the northern Rhone Valley of France. We also discovered some excellent Rieslings on our travels but now the rest is up to you.

A perennial favourite getaway is of course Daylesford is included in the area and the township has several wineries close by.

A visit to the region should also include a side trip to the eerily rocky outcrop on the plains depicted in the book/film Picnic at Hanging Rock which is home to various events including country race meets and also where some of the biggest international acts come to play outdoor concerts.
