Our wine tour guide recommended this winery. We followed the dirt road to the cellar door, which turned out to be a huge green shed with the door slightly ajar. Nothing fancy here, no artwork and the only view from inside was of pallets of wine. The service was even a little gruff, but the wines! They knocked it out of the ballpark.
The locals have a nickname for Margaret River, calling it “Mark Up River” no one has told the people at Brown Hill Estate. You can get cheap wine just about anywhere, doesn’t mean it will be any good. What Brown Hill Estate are doing at this small family run winery is producing wines that offer super value. The wines are outstanding with yields of one to one and half tones per acre while the average is more like 4-5 tones for a winery. The wines were all consistently good no matter what we tried. We weren’t the only ones believing we had hit the jackpot with many of the wines having also been highly rated. If you want to learn more about wines and pick up some excellent value for money top drops, then this is the place for you. Any money made seems to be put back into the wines rather than the upkeep of a trendy cellar door and aren’t we glad we can appreciate both experiences.

This cellar door may be a little rough around the edges but the wine were fantastic. I loved all of them. Well worth a visit.
