Chateau Tanunda is a great place to visit and If it wasn’t for the hard work of some determined locals and a businessman who saw the potential, this once neglected, vast building, would have been lost. At the entrance of this truly amazing, heritage listed chateau (with its wonderful restoration work) is a croquet lawn. Inside are rows of barrels and lots to keep the eyes busy, including a history of the chateau.
Our host, Vicki, helped guide us through the extensive list of wines in many ranges, most available for tasting. We discover a very good Primitivo, Rosé and a wonderful Cabernet from “The Chateau” range. Vicki’s knowledge of the wines was excellent and she has some wonderful stories on the history of the chateau, so make sure you throw some questions at the staff. We finished our tasting with the limited release range, which was excellent. There is also little coffee shop sitting in the corner, which offers a range of nibbles.

Very nice tasting in pretty special surroundings. Beautiful wines pairing perfectly with the ambiance of the estate,
The wine, weather and gardens was time well spent.
