Dromana Estate

Established in 1982, Dromana Estate was instrumental in forging the Mornington Peninsula’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading wine regions. They produce an extensive range of wines, with up to 12 different varietals. The winery has two labels, Dromana Estate & Mornington Estate, both are estate grown.
It was a quiet day when we visited, which surprised me considering the cellar door was such a picturesque place with beautiful gardens out the front that make for an excellent spot to have a glass of wine or two.
My guide for our tasting really knew his stuff and his experience made for a more pleasurable and learned tasting. His knowledge shone as he pointed out characteristics to look out for in each of the wines, which helps your nose and palate identify those wine traits more easily.
Dromana Estate’s believe is that wines are created in the vineyard, and to best reflect this, they use a minimal interference policy. Indigenous yeast is also predominantly used in the winemaking process and there is minimal use of additives such as sulphur, tartaric acid and various fining agents.
The restaurant offers visitors quality food in a relaxed ambience. You can choose to sit in the garden terrace area or relax inside the homestead.
