Flying Fish Cove

This winery has about 15 wines to sample and we began with the Cuttlefish Classic White and Classic Red. Both wines were easy drinking and must be some of the best value wines in the region, and please don’t confuse good value with cheap and nasty. The wines aren’t going to blow you away, but for easy, ready to drink now wines with good fruit flavours I challenge you to find a better wine at this price. The rest of the portfolio includes an interesting Italian style wine with a blend of Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and a touch of Cabernet. At the top end of the list are the Wildberry Shiraz and Cabernet that were excellent as well as the Upstream Chardonnay. Flying Fish Cove can also boast that one of their wine making team, Ryan Aggiss, was the overall winner of the Wine Society’s Young Winemaker for 2009.
