Gorgeous little set-up only minutes out of Daylesford. Fontanello has a little bit of Italy in its mix with wines like Prosecco, Pinot Grigio and Rosato. The Prosecco is made the M├ęthode Champenoise way as you would Champagne with the second fermentation in the bottle giving it more complexity. Personally I like the Traditional Italian way in that the second Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks highlighting the fruit and making the Prosecco fresh vibrant and uncomplicated.
We tasted a lovely Pinot Grigio and a stunning Pinot Noir that has all the hallmarks of a great wine. John is the winemaker and our gracious host, the cellar door overlooks the rolling hills, vines and has a couple of tables and chairs outside on the terrace so that you can stay awhile and enjoy a glass or two.
