Greg Cooley

Located next to the tourist information centre in Clare Valley, Greg Cooley makes for an easy stop if you’re a first time visitor to the Clare.
An excellent range of wines, and as usual in the Clare, our tasting begins with a Riesling, and a very good one at that. We then sample a Pinot Grigio and a Rosé, both are excellent. Our host, Lisa is very knowledgeable and a lot of fun, the type of girl that would hold court at a dinner table. She answers all our questions and takes the stuffiness out of wine tasting. We continue our tasting with a Pinot Noir, which is unusual for the Clare Valley, and is surprisingly good. We round off our tasting with a very good Grenache/Shiraz followed by some bigger reds.
Inside there is a comfy couch and stools for the weary and a closed fireplace that probably gets a workout in the cooler months. Our host was not only good at explaining the wines of Greg Cooley but her knowledge of the Clare Valley and other wineries in the region and what each specialise in was extremely helpful when planning where else we should visit.
