Harris Organic

Organic! You know the word. It’s the one that adds $4 a kilo to your vegetables. Well, it’s been around in the wine industry long before it ever hit the supermarket. It was a bit of a hit and miss affair in the early days, but I’m glad to say organic wines have come a long way.
Basically in layman’s terms it means no chemicals, no additives, nothing that doesn’t come naturally in the wine production or when growing the grapes.
But it’s more than this at Harris, it’s also a philosophy. Everything is just how Mother Nature intended it to be. Harris is the only organic winery in Perth and not only can you expect a great selection of organic wine, but be prepared for organic vodka, brandy, eau de vie, port, and maybe some fresh eggs and jams if you’re lucky.
The cellar door is homely; a small room which is part of the main house. There is a tasting fee, which isn’t an issue but it was disappointing that it was only mentioned at the end instead of being informed upfront. Some locals I spoke to later also brought up this exact same point, so this issue needs to be addressed so as not put people offside.
