There’s gold in them there hills! Hidden deep in the mountains beyond what most people see, a somewhat overlooked cellar door is Lindenderry. Too many times I have been let down by big establishments whose main goal is guest accommodation and wedding/conference facilities, who say they have a cellar door but really it is either an after thought or is just there for paying guests. If it was not for a later appointment of cracking a mate’s home brew, I would have driven past again and gone elsewhere. Since Lindenderry was right there! We thought let’s drop in for convenience sake. O.M.G. am I ever grateful for the fact that we stopped.
This wonderful purpose built cellar door is nestled amongst the tall pines at the end of a long scenic drive, just before the hotel with views to the vines or the fantastic al fresco tables and bocce court. A simple but well thought out grazing menu, gourmet pizza with coffee and cake is perfect for lighter lunches. I expected Lindenderry to trip up on the wines but once again proved me wrong and went beyond what I was expecting. Seven sassy wines were all of excellent quality from the first sip of the smacking Sparkling to the last mouthful of their Shiraz.
Our host was a joy to be around, much more than the other winery we had just came from. Would I recommend Lindenderry? Put it this way. I can’t wait to go back and show this hidden lode off to some of our wine loving friends.

We stopped at Lindenderry after a gin making session on the Peninsula. It is somewhere I have always wanted to go and have never got around to it. The cellar door was very relaxed but professional. We had some wood fired pizzas from their oven which hit the spot and complemented the wines. All the wines were very good but the chardonnay stood out for me. I like chardonnay but not the big oaky style and this wasn’t that. Would certainly venture there again.

Dropped in and tasted some awesome Chardonnay and Pinot. We visited during summer and there was an outdoor kitchen that was making good quality pizzas. A few of those, a couple of bottles of wine and we were good to go. Staff were really good and didn’t mind having a good laugh with us.

Charming cellar door with a selection of lovely looking cakes (not to mention the wines!) The surrounding grounds are also impressive. Well worth a visit.
