Cute cellar door that is housed in a restored 1850′s workers cottage with an extension that blends the old and the new together nicely. Several rooms run off the tasting area with interesting bits on the history of OliverÍs Taranga, a small table in one room perfect for small groups or private tastings. There is a couple of basket with toys for little people to keep occupied.
Our cellar door man started off with two different Italian white wine styles being a Fiano and a Vermentino. We both preferred the latter but in previous years it has been the other way around with the Fiano getting the nod by the public. We skipped over the Moscato and landed in red territory beginning with a very smooth Grenache. Our next wine was a Sagrantino. I have never heard of, let alone tried this wine, but itÍs an Italian red grape variety that was very tasty and even better when paired with food.
OliverÍs Taranga wines were very solid across the board and our host had a great knowledge of the region and he talked in depth about all the wines we tasted. It was great to listen and learn from someone who is passionate about what they do. OliverÍs Taranga makes a great spot to drop in and try some Italian grape varieties that you would not see much of as well as the chance to try some ripper reds and the fantastic service that goes with it tops it off beautifully.

Someone told us to visit here from another winery, and we glad we did. We tried some interesting wines and even though the wife said not to buy anymore wine I could not help myself. 3 Btls smuggled into the car under my jumper made it safely without being seen. Well worth visiting, great staff and interesting wines.
