Sandhurst Ridge

Down a couple of dusty tracks, just when it feels like you are a million miles from nowhere the native bushland opens up to a hidden oasis of green vines and where there are vines there is wine.
Sandhurst Ridge is in fact only 15mins from the town centre of Bendigo and If you are a lover of good quality reds then this is definitely the spot for you. What stood out was the high standard across all the red wines making it hard to choose a favourite. Paul, the winemaker greeted us as we and made our way to the tasting room. An hour here tasting these wonderful wines chatting to the winemaker who happily shared his passion and with the feeling that you miles from civilisation made any thoughts of the rat race completely disappear. What I really enjoyed is that some of his wines had six and eight years of age on them already.
We tried a luscious Shiraz, Cabernet and a Shiraz/Cab blend amongst other things
Two accommodation cottages sit opposite the tasting room and have views to the bush and the vineyard, perfect for a weekend retreat and close to the cellar door in case you need a bottle of wine to watch the sun set.
