Stumpy Gully Vineyard

Only minutes from Exit 18 on the Mornington Peninsula Fwy, Stumpy Gully is an easy find that wont disappoint. The charming family run winery, cellar door and restaurant/café is beyond what I expected.
As you approach the building it has a warm inviting feel with many people sitting outside eating lunch under market umbrellas. Inside there are more tables to the right, but I have my sights on the tasting room and make a beeline for it.
I was lucky enough to have the owner Frank take me through his range of wines, while the group near me had his son and winemaker Michael as their personal wine guide.
The wine list is quite extensive and the charming Frank was delightful in his casual approach in explaining the wines that I was drinking.
A Pinot Gris, Sangiovese and the Magic Black Pinot Noir, that was rich and earthy were some of the highlights of the visit.
Stumpy Gully has lovely vistas out over the vines from the restaurant and with a dish like Fresh baked fig with goats cheese and shaved fennel orange segments on their menu we are already planning our next visit for lunch.
