Being a foodie, there are perhaps only five things I don’t eat, and olives is one of them. So it came as a shock to me that, for the first time at a previous winery, I was given an olive that was actually not tooooo bad. We discovered that this little surprise came from The Wicked Virgin and Calico Town Wines, just out of town.
Here at this cellar door, you can try some quality olive products, as well as some beautiful olive oils and drink some mighty good reds. A couple of Shiraz were excellent with one vintage getting the people’s choice award at Fed Square. The “Kimberley” made from the Italian white grape, Trebbiano offered great value. Coffee, cake and light snacks are also served.

Calico Town Wines are a small winery and a lovely cafe/restaurant combined. The menu is always changing and offers snacks or lunch. Olive tasting available as well. The winery also has a great bocce court to entertain the kids or just to challenge your companions.
