I must admit Wynns was not high on my list of priorities of wineries to go and visit as so many of their wines are easily found in almost every bottle shop, but… The cellar door set up was spectacular! Plenty of space, modern and lots of the things to keep you interested when you were not tasting their wine.
The tasting room is housed in a beautiful old building built in 1896 by John Riddoch and Wynns is the oldest operating winery in the region. Picnic tables are scattered on the lawns of the manicured gardens which over summer would be the perfect place for a family to have a picnic lunch.
A good range of wines are on offer to sample but my picks were the Riesling,”The Sliding” Cabernet and the Black Label Cabernet.
Please don’t be put off visiting Wynns if you are concerned the wines may be too commercial for you, because the cellar door is a really great spot for a visit and the wines are very good. Go and Enjoy!
